In family life right now we are discussing the topic of sexuality. Down below I am going to be talking about some of the challenges of sexual intercourse and when it is or is not appropriate.
Sexual intercourse is only appropriate I think when you are in a married relationship. I think that sexual intercourse is only appropriate when you are in a married relationship because this act is when
It is not appropriate when you think it is another way to say, "I love you". I think that when you think this it is not appropriate for sexual intercourse because you should already know that you love one another. Doing this action would not change anything I think. Another time when I think that this action is not appropriate is if you are not married. I think this because sexual intercourse is an action that you should
Some of the challenges we have to face when dealing with this topic is all of the different things we hear about this topic. This is a challenge because we do not want to believe about this subject.
My question for you is as 13 or 14 year old person what type of relationships do you think we should have and why?
Right now in class we are working on characters. In this post we have to say what who we think the best character ever is and explain why. In my opinion Rose Nylund from the Golden Girls is the best character.
The first reason why I think that she is the best character is because she is not afraid to be herself. In every episode she is never scared to speak her mind even it is not positive. In my opinion that trait shows a true character. One example of this is when Rose and a couple other of the main characters had a fight in the first episode. Once they sat down at there kitchen table Rose just began to speak freely about a story from her hometown, St.Olvie. Once she told that story all three of them were laughing and they decided to still live with each other. The second reason why I think that Rose Nylund is the best character is because she seems to always be in a positive mood. I think this because she always is really cheery and always has a big smile on her face in pretty much every episode. It is good to have a good positive character in shows so that way it makes the show more enjoyable. I find that a happy cheery person makes a show better because in my opinion it enlights the show. It enlights the show because you know that someone on the show is happy and positive. The third reason why I think that Rose is a good character is because she is a great friend. Out of all of the episodes that I have seen she will stick up for any of her friends no matter the circumstance. One example of this is when one of the other main characters was having troubles with her ex husband. Rose stuck up for her because he was being a real pain to her. In my opinion that shows true friendship.
My question to you is what traits do you think display a character and why do you think that?
This video below shows some of Rose Nylund's best moments from the show.
In this post I am going to be talking about the Healthy Eating at Schools organization. I am going to be giving a brief overview of what they do and how it could help kids make healthy decisions.
The Healthy Eating at Schools Organization is run mostly in British Columbia. Their main objective is to try to help different communities ideas come up with different ideas on how to make healthy eating choices. One successful thing that happened that they were part of is called the Terra Nova School Gardens. This project is an agriculture project going on in Richmond B.C. and it is for any elementary school student. The kids at these school plan their gardens in the winter and plant them in the spring.
On this site there is many amazing features. The six tabs at the top can take you to many different ways on how you would be able to be and to eat healthy. Some of the things that I found most useful on there site include the success stories that they have and how we can take action to eat healthy. I think this site would help kids make healthy decisions because they will see that kids around their age are making healthy eating decisions. Of what I have seen and heard other people say, a lot of kids want to do what their peers do because it will make them ‘cool’.
Here is my critical thinking question:
What can you do to help kids to be able to eat healthy at school?
The habit we chose was being PROACTIVE.
In our opinion, being proactive is choosing to do something based on the values and circumstances and not on your moods. Most proactive people like to take change and they do not react or blame others.
Sam's Answer: The habit of being proactive could impact my life as I get ready for high school because being proactive will allow me to get my work done more effectively and purposefully.
My Answer: The habit of being proactive could impact my life as I get ready for high school because it will allow me to never take the easy way out of life. Taking the easy way out will not will not have a beneficial impact when I am older. Taking the harder way out of life will have a beneficial impact because I will get more opportunities.
Our Critical Thinking Question: Does this personality trait or others encourage you to change yourself or others and why?
In health right now, we are talking about mental health. We have to answer three questions about the following story below.
James just moved from B.C. to a school in Ontario. As a grade 8 student, moving half way through a school year, he's having a hard time adjusting to all this change. He feels the reasons for his move are private, and he's not comfortable discussing them with anyone, but people keep asking about it. He feels like after the first two weeks in his new class he doesn't want to be friends with anyone. His teacher, along with the work being assigned, seems so different from what he was doing out west. James is becoming very stressed out. Just recently, he verbally abused his bus driver on his way to school and was given a suspension.
Some of the key points in this story is that James is having a hard time adjusting to the change of moving. James has a hard time with adjusting to his teacher and the class environment. He is also having a hard time with the social part of school because he does not want to be friends with anybody and people are asking him questions that he does not feel comfortable answering. With all of the stress James is feeling, he verbally abused his bus driver on his way home. With doing that he got suspended.
One strategy that James could use to help with his stress is that he could go and seek help from a professional. If he talked to somebody that is a professional he might find better ways to deal with his stress.
My question is that what is one way that you deal with your stress?

Here is a letter that I wrote to Jupiter from Joseph.
Hi Bailey. Right now in class we are creating critical thinking questions. What is your favorite part of the book so far? Thomas thinks that the best part is when Joseph's dad pushes in him to the living room. My favorite part of the book so far is when Joseph tells Jack and his family about Madeline. The question that Thomas and I have for you is:
What traits do you think Joseph's dad portrays and why do you think that? Can you think of one person that reminds you of Joseph's dad?
For chapter 6, we had to choose 3-4 songs that would relate to the book Orbiting Jupiter. Here are the songs that I chose and why.
If you were to write a soundtrack for your Orbiting Jupiter movie, which 3-4 would you choose and why did you choose them?
If I had to choose 3 songs for my Orbiting Jupiter soundtrack, they would be Beautiful World by Carolina Liar, Fresh Eyes by Andy Grammer and Neverland by Zendaya.
The first song that I would choose for my Orbiting Jupiter is “Beautiful World” by Carolina Liar. I would choose this song because when we first met Joseph in the beginning of the book, he was very depressed. He was really depressed because for the last little while because he has many life changing events that changed him for the worse. He got taken away from Madeline, he never got to meet his daughter Jupiter, he got sent to Stone Mountain juvenile detention center and finally he found out that the love of his life (Madeleine) is dead. All of these massive life events that Joseph went through relate to the song “Beautiful World”. These massive life events that Joseph went through relate to the song “Beautiful World” because it is was hard for Joseph to keep going everyday. He was just trying to get through everyday as different challenges arise every day. A couple line that relate to my reasoning is, “I'm just trying to forget. Keep it real, keep it simple.”Another reason why I chose this song is because there is a lot of times when the book is really sad or really depressing and the song is really sad or depressing. An example of a sad or depressing moment in the book is when Joseph was telling Jack and his family about his past. This is a really sad/depressing part of the book because Jack and his family got to know everything that happened to Joseph to get him to this point in time. Overall, this is why I would choose the song Beautiful World by Carolina Liar for one of my songs for my Orbiting Jupiter soundtrack.
The second song that I would choose for my Orbiting Jupiter movie is “Fresh Eyes” by Andy Grammer. In the song “Fresh Eyes it explains that you don’t have to be perfect to be cared about. This relates to the book Orbiting Jupiter because with Jack and his family adopting Joseph I think it lit up a light in Joseph’s world. Joseph wasn’t used to anybody other than Madeline to stick up for him or be on his side. But now Joseph has a supportive family to come home to everyday. Jack and his family would most likely do what they can to make sure that Joseph is happy and so he can try to live as ordinary of a life he can. One line from the song that goes with my reasoning is “So suddenly I'm in love with a stranger. I can't believe she's mine. Now all I see is you with fresh eyes, fresh eyes.” Another reason why I think this song should be part of my Orbiting Jupiter soundtrack is because the song says “Appreciation, well, it comes and it goes”.This part of the song relates to when Joseph first began to milk Darcy. These two things go together because when Joseph first got out to the barn he got showed how to milk a cow. Then it was his turn. Jack and his dad had appreciation that they had someone else to help them. They understood that he wouldn’t be perfect at first but they knew that he would get better over time. Overall, this is why I would choose the song Fresh Eyes by Andy Grammer to be part of my Orbiting Jupiter soundtrack.
The final song that I would choose to put into my Orbiting Jupiter movie is “Neverland” by Zendaya. In the song “Neverland”some of the lyrics are,”Whenever I was frightened, or if I ever felt alone. I turned to the night sky, and a star I call my own. Somewhere I could run to, just across the Milky Way. If you like I could take you, it's just a light year and a day.” This part of the song relates to Orbiting Jupiter because every night Joseph would go to the window to see if he could see the planet Jupiter. When he would do this, it would remind him of Madeline and Jupiter. It would also remind Joseph when everything was the way it was before his life took a turn for the worse. He probably could still see himself walking 7 miles to Madeline’s house and 7 miles back home. Joseph probably felt very lonely at Stone Mountain. At that point Joseph probably did not think that he would have anybody else to trust but Madeline. But now Joseph has Jack and his family that he can trust. Overall, this is why I would choose the song Neverland by Zendaya to be part of my Orbiting Jupiter soundtrack.
Overall I would choose the songs Beautiful World by Carolina Liar, Fresh Eyes by Andy Grammer and Neverland by Zendaya for my Orbiting Jupiter soundtrack.
We just finished chapter 5 of Orbiting Jupiter. What are your thoughts about the fight that Joseph got into? Did you agree that Jack should've got in trouble?
